WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!

* We served 300 of our neighbors that live in and around a food desert in Solano County

* The Food Bank distributed 2,514 lbs of fresh produce to 147 families representing 478 community members.

* 75 Community leaders participated in the Policy Makers Breakfeast, where we discussed how we can improve our County.

What is a food desert?

The USDA defines food deserts as parts of the country without easy access to fresh fruit, vegetables, and other healthful whole foods, usually found in impoverished areas. This is largely due to a lack of grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and healthy food providers.
